Mornings on Mott's
Mornings on Mott’s
A relaxed morning cruise through the marsh with storytelling, wildlife sightings, and dockside refreshments.
Coffee, hot Evermore tea, and Evermore Sweet Tea are served dockside.
Mott’s Creek
Your journey begins at Dock 4 on Mott’s Creek in Galloway Township, New Jersey. Once home to charter boats, working docks, and Colton’s Fishery, this creek has long been part of the working waterfront of the region.
Nacote Creek
From Mott’s Creek we drift into the wider bends of Nacote Creek — known to locals simply as the Crick.
These waters carried fishermen and baymen for generations and once sheltered Revolutionary War privateers and the rumrunners of Prohibition, who knew these winding channels well.
Ferry Creek
Just off Nacote Creek lies Ferry Creek, home to the historic Olde Modern Boat Works and Evermore Trading Co.
The surrounding marshlands were once rich with salt hay harvested for livestock bedding and feed, a tradition that shaped life along these shores for generations.
Old-timers still tell stories of hidden channels and secret passageways through the marsh leading toward Hooker’s Nook.
Hooker’s Nook
Further out among the marsh islands sits Hooker’s Nook, a wild little patch of land where the stories grow taller and the sunsets stretch long across the tide.
Evermore Circa 1792
Overlooking the Crick near the old 610 bridge, Evermore Circa 1792 stands as a quiet witness to centuries of life along these tides.
Built for a sea captain, the property once included a ship chandler, supplying goods and provisions to the boats that worked these creeks and surrounding marshlands.
Those early waterfront trades became the roots of what is now Evermore Trading Co.
Local lore also speaks of hidden tunnels said to run from the house toward Nacote Creek, once believed to have quietly moved goods — and perhaps even people seeking freedom — between the shore and the water.
